Minister of Shipping (I/C) Mansukh Mandaviya visits Paradip Port
|
PARADIP: As part of regular review of Major Ports in Country after assuming the charge as Minister of State for Shipping (I/C), Union Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya made his first official visit to Paradip Port Trust on 16th October 2019.
During the visit, Shri Mandaviya was extended very warm welcome by Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, Paradip Port Trust and other HoDs at Jawahar Guest House.
On 17th October morning, he was given Guard of Honour by the CISF, PPT contingent at Jawahar Guest House. Thereafter, he visited the Port and saw the operations in the Dock area. Shri Mandaviya, also inaugurated the “New Kalyan Mandap” of PPT.
Shri Mandaviya participated in plantation drive and distributed eco-friendly cotton bags to the public from nearby location. He also participated in a Cycle Rally, organised by PPT, to spread the message of “Swachhta hi Sewa” and “Fit India”.
He said that he always goes to the Parliament, cycling all the way from official residence, when the House is in session. The Minister had an interactive session with Port-users & stake-holders, where he emphasized on augmenting the Coastal Shipping.
He also reviewed progress with officials of IDCO, IOCL, on Paradip Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR). During the review of progress of PCPIR, he stressed on collaborative approach for faster development to bring overall development of the area. At the review meet, Shri Mandaviya expressed his hopes for a bright future for PPT.
The Minister later reviewed the functioning of the port and a detailed presentation was also made by Chairman, PPT, which was attended by all HoDs.
