According to the Japan Iron & Steel Federation, Japan's export shipments of iron and steel products totaled 3,335,000 tonnes in July 2010, up by 4% YoY but down by 13.7% MoM, when their values totaled USD 3,740.17 million, up by 33% YoY, translating into JPY 333.2 billion, up by 24.6% YoY.
Of the total export shipments, ordinary steel products accounted for 2,257,000 tonnes, up by 10.1% YoY. Of the ordinary steel products exported, HR coils made up 647,000 tonnes, down by 9.4% YoY; galvanized sheets 491,000 tonnes, up by 47.9% YoY; CR coils 313,000 tonnes, down by 4.4% YoY; heavy plates 301,000 tonnes, up by 0.1% YoY; welded and butt welded pipes 95,000 tonnes, up by a factor of 4.1; electrical sheets 72,000 tonnes, up by 29.5% YoY; shapes 61,000 tonnes, down by 7.8% YoY; seamless pipes 50,000 tonnes, down by 1.2% YoY; wire rods 38,000 tonnes, down by 5.5% YoY and bars 19,000 tonnes, up by 6% YoY.
In the breakdown of the total export shipments by main destinations, South Korea took 795,000 tonnes, down by 9.3% YoY; China 605,000 tonnes, down by 4.5% YoY; Thailand 366,000 tonnes, up by 37% YoY; Taiwan 198,000 tonnes, down by 32.3% YoY and the USA 149,000 tonnes, up by 75% YoY.
