OOCL Logistics emphasizes use of the CTU Code
|
HONG KONG: The IMO/ILO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTU Code) introduced a guide to facilitate the proper packing, transport and unpacking of cargo transport units (CTUs). These guidelines were published by the TT Club (https://www.ttclub.com/news-and-resources/publications/ctu-code---a-quick-guide/).
This guide is aimed to assist in planning and implementing the packing of cargo so that the shipment will be satisfactory to the shipper, carrier and consignee. It will also help in the prevention of pest contamination and damage to CTUs and the cargo conveyed by any transportation solutions.
By following the rules of CTUs it reduces certain physical risks to which contents are exposed. Any improper packing method of cargo into or onto such units may result in incidents during handling or transport causing injury, damage to the cargo itself or to the handling equipment, transport infrastructure and to the environment.
To prevent costly damage to cargo, ensuring the safety of personnel involved in the movement of the goods and protecting the environment, , OOCL Logistics has designed a set of Posters and Signs to illustrate the proper stuffing of and points to observe during the preparation of the transport unit. With these Posters and Signs, we are contributing to the security & safety of the supply chain and protecting the environment.
